Hello, NCAPE members!! Let's pat ourselves in the back. We have gone a long way. A year ago most of us did not know each other. We got together after the disastrous situation with our State Exams for 3rd through 8th last year. There was a lot of fear and a lot of misinformation. Saranac Lake started screaming: they had a noisy opt-out. Then, most of us met in an informal meeting and we learn there about the first North Country forum in Ausable Valley (our very BRAVE Ausablers). This gave us LOTS of strength. We attended a rally in Albany PRO PUBLIC EDUCATION. And we started meeting regularly... We worked on our first forum in Plattsburgh and it filled the house WITH FIRE. We are now in our way to our second forum on Testing and the Common Core. There is less fear and lots more information. Way to go, North Country FRIENDS.
Our second forum was very powerful. Most of the parents who attended were aghast about the information on InBloom, the business in charge to share our children's data... Who would have thought that people in charge of "education" would play with children's future in this unfathomable way?
